In Ryute Renmei, weapons training is very important for several reasons. Ryute Renmei is an original form of Okinawan fighting arts. Weapons techniques and katas are taught so that this tradition will not be lost to time. The weapons kata not only contain techniques for use of the weapon but also strengthens and enhances the empty hand techniques.

The creativity of the Okinawan people not only led to the development of a unique art of empty hand fighting, but also a unique form of weapons fighting. This weapons art called KOBUDO, uses ordinary hand tools and implements as weapons. Weapons are an extension of the body and the techniques consist of poking, striking, slashing, entanglement and entrapment.
